L&D question?

Is anybody else's maternal ward not allowing kids in L&D; because of the flu going around? Like completely not allowd on the entire floor... Mine is. I understand it's for the babies best interest. Just wondering if other hospitals are doing this as well.

We are only allowed one visitor on the ward and no children.

Our hospital put this policy in place last week. I was sorta expecting it because this flu season has been so terrible, but it didn’t make it any easier to deal with, I cried for a bit. We have started explaining to our kids that we will have them make it a special little sister coming home party. They can get balloons and we will make it a celebration when mommy and daddy bring their sister home. 
I know since I’m am a c section it’s not going to be easy for them to be away for 3 nights. But, I am thankful for FaceTime and wonderful grandparents.

I am going to ask my dr about this, I am unsure what are rules are... I know a year ago when I delivered my son children were aloud unless they had any cough/flu symptoms and boy did everyone in our families bring there children. This time around I’m telling everyone NOT to bring kids under 10 regardless of my hospitals rules... however I will be VERY heartbroken if my son isn’t allowed to come visit with us. I’m already having such a hard time as I’ve never left him over night and have bad anxiety. I will be devastated if my child cannot come. 😣😭

Yes.. :( at our hospital you have to be 18+ to visit. Sad my son won’t be able to meet his sister until she comes home. But precaution is for the best I guess.

Our hospital has had an age restriction put in place since mid January because of all the flu cases. Children must be over 13 years of age to be a visitor, therefor we are not having any visitors while we are in the hospital with baby. We want our son to be the first person other than daddy and I to meet her! I’m sad that he can’t come to the hospital, but I’m thankful they are trying to keep all of us well.

For us it just started today! No visitors under 12 for the whole hospital.

Yep, same here. They can’t even visit after I deliver. My children won’t see their baby brother until I get home. 😕

I have not heard anything but I'm sure it's probably due to this bad flu season we have. My husband had the flu two weeks ago and was scared I would go into labor and he would not be allowed near me or the baby while in the hospital.
