Do you think boys learn to speak later than girls?

I’ve heard boys tend to learn to speak much later than girls. Some people even saying as far as 3 years old 😱 my husband and I were both speaking clearly before our 1st birthday (we are Caribbean latinos 🤣) so this comes as a surprise to us with our first lil boy

Statistically they tend to, but I’ve read that people tend to talk to girls differently than boys, so that might explain some of the difference. For example, if our daughter falls down and gets hurt we might be like “how are you feeling? Where does it hurt? Are you okay?” And things like that. Whereas with a boy we tend to brush it off like “don’t cry, you’re okay”.

Statistically girls starts talking before boys. In my own family, I was talking at a year old. My brother started talking after his 2nd birthday. My mum was actually concerned something was wrong with him because he could only roar like a lion. He was totally fine of course but it was very different to me and my mum tried to use similar teaching methods with us both. The younger two brothers started talking around their 2nd birthdays as well. I know boys that’s started talking early though. So it’s not like it’s a hard and fast rule.

No cause my 2 nieces (Husbands sisters kids)  cant speak for shit and ones supposed to be in kindergarten and she talks and it sounds like a bunch of gibberish, but she never makes eye contact shes always looking around... I have ADD & my brother has ADHD and we were both talking by 2 years old. It all depends cus some moms/dads like to talk to their kids like babies & that doesnt help.

No. At least not in my experience. My nephew was always a really good talker and was talking in complete sentences by the time he was 18 months old. My daughter on the other hand didn't talk for forever. She was 3 before I could understand what she was saying

Maybe in same cases but my son started speaking, and speaking WELL, extremely early! I am a nanny and the 2 1/2 old little girl I watch is barely starting to talk in sentences, and it's still hard to understand her a lot of the time! This was not the case with my son, so, Every child is different.

My first son was speaking in full sentences at 19 months. My second son is 19 months and he has about 50-60 words already so I would say it totally depends on the child not the gender.
