When Should I Tell?

Question

I've only told close family that I'm pregnant.  I'm 8 weeks now and scared to tell others due to miscarrying before.  However I teach. I've been telling the students that if they're sick to stay home...of course, they wouldn't know why I keep saying that.  Question to you all is when should I tell my students? Staff? Suggestions?

I think telling people during flu season that they should stay home if they are sick is a very normal thing to say. I wouldn’t assume you were pregnant based on that alone. I always waited until second trimester to tell people other than family, but do what you are comfortable with. If you would like to tell people sooner/later, that’s completely up to you :)

I work in a preschool/daycare. I told my coworkers when I found out at 5 weeks so they were at least are aware (only 9 of us) and told my boss when I was about 9 weeks. I had a loss with my first and waited until the first trimester screening at 12w to make sure she was healthy before we told the rest of our families and friends.

I told my managers so they would know I couldn’t do heavy lifting. My GM told the rest of my coworkers so they’d be able to pick up my slack.
