My four almost five year old son is starting to act extremely off the wall. Well actually it started back in November when he stuck our two year old in the toy box, put a giant stuffed bunny on top of her and then sat on her and she was screaming bloody murder. Past few months he has started having extreme meltdowns and outbursts especially at school and hurting other kids. Throwing chairs and toys and not listening to his teacher. But he doesn’t do it everyday, it’s like every other. Or sometimes we will have a good couple days and then it just goes to shit. About a month ago he choked our six year old daughter “because he wanted to choke her”. Few weeks go by and nothing like this happens again until a week ago he chokes the cat again “because he wanted to.” Now this is my step son so he is not in our house 100% of the time but we do have him 50/50%. The first choking incident happened at our house so we let his mom know, and then the cat incident happened at his moms house and she was shocked because he hadn’t done this before. And then we just get a call from his teacher saying he’s having an outburst, kicking and screaming and throwing things and has hurt other kids. His doctor thinks it might be ODD, but I’m scared to death because we have a one month old baby and I’m so scared he is going to hurt him if by some chance I walk out of the room for a second. He constantly stares at me with this evil look, and most of the time when we talk to him he just looks at us and doesn’t respond. We have to force him to talk to us. And a couple times we had been talking to him and he just ups and walks away with no regards “because he wanted to”. Please for the love of god tell me something???! His doctor said he has to be diagnosed by a psychiatrist in order to get any help with ODD but it’s so expensive. I just don’t want him hurting anyone else.
