Scariest day ever.

Hannah

Yesterday was such a scary day. My baby (12 months) has been running a fever(low grade) since Friday night well it spiked Sunday night to 103.7. Monday morning first thing I call her doctor to try to get her in they’re all booked up so I make one for Tuesday at 9:00 am. I take her to an urgent care they say she’s fine it’s viral send us home. Fever continues I can barely keep it down. So Tuesday morning we get up to go to the pediatrician and her lips are slightly blue I just think she’s cold so I bundled her up and rush to the doctors office. Once there she starts shake and her body is turning blue. The nurse can’t get a oxygen level read on her. She rushes to get the nurse practitioner. She come in and listens to her and calmly does a quick check over while telling the nurse to get oxygen going on her. She’s so upset I can tell something is really wrong with my baby. They tell me they can’t let me leave without going to the ER. They call an ambulance for us to get us to the hospital. My first time in an ambulance wasn’t even for me. We get the her fever was 105. They get her all hooked up to the heart monitors and oxygen level thing. She’s tachycardic but she’s no long blue. They gave her a Tylenol suppository and Motrin to get that fever down. They draw blood and do chest X-rays. They get that fever down which gets that heart rate down. They say that they might see a small spot of pneumonia on her X-rays and send us home with antibiotics and tell us to get some Tylenol suppositories to have on hand! Well we felt like they should have kept her overnight we go to a different ER. They tell us the same thing they see know reason to keep her overnight. Which turned out to be okay. We had an appointment with her pediatrician today. She’s been fever free since around 1-2 today hoping it stays that way! The doctors found out she has a throat infection that was causing the high fever. The high fever was causing her heart to shunt the blood making her blue. Thank goodness this is over hopefully!
