Are Apple Watches worth it?

I’m trying to decide whether it’s worth $400 or not. Pros? Cons?

If I had an extra 400 to spend I would pick a high grade vaccum over a watch lol but I had a fitbit and it was fun but eventually it gets old and I just stopped wearing it .

It honestly depends on what you need. I had a series 2, sold it and upgraded to the series 3 with cellular. Where I work, it’s easier and more polite to my customers if I just glance at my watch when I receive a call or text. It is more convenient for me with my job too since I have a little one at home. My watch saved me the other day when I misplaced my phone. I was able to call my mom from my house to see if I’d left my phone at hers. 
The biggest pro to the Apple Watch, any series, is the emergency services option. It does not matter what watch you have, you always have access to emergency services. If anything happens and you can’t get to your phone, you can use your watch to notify emergency services and all of your emergency contacts. It also sends out a gps location to the emergency personnel. 
The Apple Watch has seriously saved lives. It has let people know of heart conditions they didn’t know they had and led them to seek treatment before they died unexpectedly. 
There are cheaper options, sure. I’ve owned 2 fitbits myself and I loved them. However, nothing compares to my Apple watch and the safety it can provide.

It’s a splurge purchase for sure. My husband got me one as a graduation gift for getting my masters this year. I think it will be super helpful when baby comes since you can answer msgs and take calls without your phone. Also, there are baby tracking apps that work with it. Having said that, it is not a necessity but something cool to have.

I received a series 2 as a gift and almost returned it because I didn't think it would be my thing. I'm a daily watch wearer, but I hate the idea of being any more tethered to my phone than I already am.
That said, I've now had it and worn it daily for over a year and feel naked if I forget it. Even though I get the notifications on it, I do a really feel less tethered to my phone. My phone doesn't come out of my pocket or purse most days. I have customized the notifications to only pop up things I would want urgently... calls, texts, etc. Everything else just pushes to my phone and I'll get it when I get it. 
The series 2 is waterproof, and with the silicone band I have no qualms wearing it to work in a hospital. I get it wet and soapy on the regular when I wash my hands and it's easy to wipe down with alcohol or disinfecting wipes if I need to. If I'm with a patient or in a meeting, I can still get important messages without pulling out my phone or missing them because I forget to check when I'm free. 
I also love the watch's functionality if I'm using the maps/gps on my phone. I can toss my phone into my center console and the watch will pulse differently when I approach right and left turns. It's one of those features that lots of people probably never use, but I appreciate. 
The heart rate tracker clued me into my pregnancy-induced tachycardia and prompted me to talk to my OB and get referred to cardiology to make sure there would be any issues at delivery. 
Regarding battery life, I've never had it die on me, but I toss it on the charger most nights when I go to bed  I use it as a bedside clock now. It's off most of the time, but if i wake up and tab my nightstand, it pops up in a muted light fir a few seconds. If I happen to forget to charge it overnight, it usually gets enough juice you get by if I toss it on the charger while I get ready for work.

Love mine.  Have the original one and still wear it every day.  My friend loved hers when she first had her baby because she could answer phone calls and do a lot of things kinda hands free when baby was in her arms

When I worked in a hospital I had a Samsung watch when I had a Samsung phone and absolutely loved it! If I had the extra money to spend I would love to have another but being in an office I have a lot of free time

I have the series 1 and love mine. I wear it daily. I am terrible about having my phone on me so for me it helps. Ha.

It depends what functions you're wanting from it. If you just want fitness/sleep, there are lots of cheaper options available. If you're wanting phone calls/texts, there are still many other brands at half the price. I have a Pebble (which was absorbed by Fitbit so now only available in Amazon) and it's just what I needed! Not sure what extras you can ONLY get with Apple, they may or may not be worth it to you.
