Being induced?

First time mom here! Today at one of my regular doctor appointments, my doctor gave me the option to be induced. He said he could induce me 6 days before my actual due date which is April 23 (if she doesn’t come before). He also said he could induce me the day after my due date if she’s not here already. I know nothing about being induced, so i’m doing research to make my mind up! What are the pros and cons of being induced instead of just waiting for it to happen naturally? Is it better to wait or does it even matter? TIA!
