Pumping Before Baby Arrives?!

My SO just mentioned to me that he got a notification from another app we use. It said to remind me to pump today to prepare for babys arrival. Ive never been told this before, never have I even heard about it. Confused..wondering if anyone has ever pumped before baby came to prepare for milk?! I am being induced at 8 am.

No don't do that because the first of your milk is colostrum and the baby needs that first! Also what someone previously said nipple stimulation can start labor

Don't do that, that's not a good idea. The baby needs the colostrum that comes right after delivery. Pumping after is fine but not before..

No need. The delivery of the placenta is what signals milk production, no nipple stimulation is needed before hand to get that going.

i have been, just becuase im attempting to start labor. (40 +1) but I'm freezing the colostrum so if i need it in the hospital i have it. I've heard that pumping can encourage milk or colostrum production, but it really isn't necessary.

I did but only because I was trying to get her to come out. I pumped for 3 weeks before she decided to come though lol
