Problem with iMessage

Has anyone had a problem with iMessage. I noticed a while back with this guy I’ve been talking to that iMessage would but his texts above mine. For example, I would ask him a question and he would reply right after but his reply would go above the question I sent him instead of below. I asked him if he was having any problems but he said no. I just decided to turn iMessage off because if I went back to look at a conversation, it would just look weird because all the text were out of order. I noticed it started after the last update. I’m just wondering if I’m the only one who had that problem.
