Charity donation instead of baby shower?

Would it be rude to ask my coworkers instead of doing a baby shower or bringing me any gifts, if they could just make a donation to a charity of my choice instead ?

I’m private person and I prefer to keep my personal life separate from my work life. My family( whom lives in another state ) will be doing a small baby shower for me. However my coworkers are insisting on doing their own baby shower for me, even though I have repeatedly ask that they do not do a baby shower for me.
