Do you believe social media negatively impacts peoples life?

Question

By social media’s I’m referring to Facebook, Instagram, and twitter. I see many many people on their phones and not paying attention to the relationships around them.
Do you believe it has impacted our society in a negative or positive way and why do you feel that way? 
Would love to hear you guys thoughts.

Yes. We are over informed and over stimulated. People were happier when the the news came on for an hour each day and you didn’t know what your friends were up to unless you called or visited.

I think both. We are more aware of things going on because of social media. See more unaltered things that the media might construe. 
But sadly people are wayyyyyy to Neville’s and take it wayyyyyyy to serious. For example cyber bullying. Someone being attacked for views, looks, personality by both people they know and people they dont know

I think both. Social media has opened the door for so many ppl to become entrepreneurs and has given many a voice to fight agaisnt injustices. It has also made it easier to stay connected with loved ones. It definitely has its drawbacks like obvious ones such as cyber bullying or news overload. But there's deeper issues like everyone's life on social media is portrayed as perfect. Ppl don't really ever post the stack of bills they have on the counter but are quick to post their freshly manicured nails and the BMW in their garage. Or they'll post their perfect kids neat and smiling, but don't post the temper tantrums, post the kissing pictures of their SO but not the argument. You catch my drift. So in our eyes everyone is living this great life and I think it makes ppl feel down about their own life, but we're only catching these little glimpses into everyone's life. Of course though teens don't realize that, so I think it contributes to the pressure they're under. To add to your point, yes I think some ppl allow social media to consume them and neglect other things in their life. You now have ppl filming dangerous situations they should be running from, just to get a good snap smh. But I think it's done  way more good than harm overall.

Yes, I think it's warping ppl's reality. Especially Instagram, and obv Facebook helped spread actual propganda.

I myself am addicted to using my phone and being on social media. I feel the need to be up to date with Facebook every half an hour. It's so bad, so my answer is yes! You spend your life in this little bubble on your phone

I really depends on who you're talking to.   dome of those people probably never had a social life to begin with so access to the Internet has allowed them to find people who think just like them.  It could also be just someone that is really easily influenced that could be online really depends on what opinions are being pushed the most on that page they are on.  For me the people that are most susceptible to being hurt online are people that can't really handle life to begin with, or simply people that I have been witnessed to terrible things and it has effected their mental state.

Social media is a many faceted network of communication. It's far too simplistic to say definitively whether it has a positive or negative impact on people's lives. Social media connects our world in ways that are literally unprecedented. It's helped law enforcement officials, disaster relief people, it's helped people in developing nations connect to schools and businesses across the world.. it may be annoying or too pervasive on a personal level but saying that that makes it inherently bad is silly. It just means it can be over used, or poorly used.

Social media has NO POWER without a person and their mind using it. It’s an addiction for some because of how their minds work. We have all the power in the world to put down our phones and participate in reality, but because of the way our escapist minds work, we are choosing not to ((whether or not we are consciously aware of making that choice or not). So bottom line.... people are doing it to themselves. Without people, social media has no power.
