8 day old baby: let him sleep or play with him?

When my baby is awake he is usually really good. He looks around and will look at me sometimes.

I was reading that at 2 weeks old they can recognize your voice.

I had a c section and it’s been difficult to take care of me and him at the same time but I still want to engage my baby any way I can.

Every 3 hours I change his diaper, feed and burp him, then swaddle him and he goes back to sleep most of the time.

Is this okay or should I be playing with him instead for a few minutes? There’s too much info online and all of it is different.
