Access to your husband's money?

My fiance doesn't let me have access to any of his money which I'm okay with because I don't need his money but he said even after we get married he still doesn't want me to have access to any of his accounts. Is this weird?   I feel like all married couples share their money because it's a partnership. Am I wrong?

Once you’re married, his money is legally yours, whether he “wants” it that way or not

My husband and I have a joint account. It works for us because I manage our finances & it’s easier for me to sort things out if he’s on my account. We don’t say this is mine and this is yours. We say it’s OURS. I find that it’s better that way, when you start the mine/yours thing it just gets a little tricky and way too complicated

In my marriage, we’re 100% a team. The only thing that’s separate are credit cards. He has one and I have one. All bank accounts are joint and all of our finances are handled together.

I think it’s alarming that he wouldn’t want you to have access to his accounts. Not every married couple has a joint account. My husband and I do, but I know plenty that don’t. However those couples still budget and have access to each other’s accounts.

I think it’s pretty common to have separate accounts. We both work full time. Have separate accounts and one joint account we contribute to for our bills. Most other people I know function the same unless the wife doesn’t work, and then they normally are given a budget to work with.

Legally once your married it’s “y’alls” money.... however you should sit down and figure out what is going to work for your guys as far as money management. 
For instance, my husband CANNOT manage money at all!! There for I Handel all our finances and bills and he gets an allowance out of each check to live on and do what he wants with. Being a sahm i have very little income of my own (I babysit a few kids, but nothing major) and so his income is what really supports us. If he were to have full blown access to all of our money (or even know how much we really have in the bank) it would all get spent on useless crap we don’t need. 
Different things work for different couples. You just have to figure out what works for y’all.

People go both way... my parents have always shared money my ex parents in law did not , they split everything down he middle . Me and my fiancé share all our money, we do have separate accounts because all my vehicular payments come out of mine and his out of his so it’s easier to keep them separate for now , I just transfer money whenever i want and etc . But I also think it’s completely up to the couple , maybe talk to him and ask why? It’s always s tricky topic because so many people do and so many people don’t

Not sure what state you are in but in California the 50% law only applies if you've had a joint bank account. We keep our money 100% separate because that's what works for us, we earn our own money and spend our own money. As long as our shared expenses are covered no one complains about what the other spends!

Yeah once you're married the money is legally both of yours.  I'd be kind of offended too.  Why doesn't he want you to have access to it?
