personally idont mind if its spmeone who sees them often and has a relationship with them. i just dont like when people who know me or my husband but have never met my babies call them their babies.

My MIL takes the pictures I post on FB and makes them her profile picture and call her “my baby”. It irritates me so much. I would be fine with “my grand daughter” because that’s correct. She’s had her 4 kids, this one is mine.

I would not like that at all.  They are not my babies parents so have not right in saying that.

My dad and my little nephew call my baby their baby it’s no big deal for me but my mother in law it’s a little different. When I found out I was having a girl she got really happy and people were congratulating her instead of me. Then she kept saying She was so happy because she’s always wanted a daughter. In my head it was like your getting a grandchild not a daughter. I don’t know maybe hormones

My MIL does this and it bugs me for multiple reasons. We can’t stand her She barley ever sees us so my son still thinks shes a stranger half the time. She judges and tries to control everything in my life including how we parent. My grandma does it and I’m fine with it bc they adore each other and it makes her so happy. She was the only one that got super excited when we announced our pregnancy and it means so much that she gets to have a relationship with her only great grand-baby.  If my mom did it would bug me for similar reason to my MIL although my mom does seem him more often so shes not as much of a stranger.

It depends I think. I’ll always text my best friends asking “how’s my baby!?” And she will do the same. We make a joke out of it in a way.
I think if they tried to treat my child as their, then maybe it would bother me. The words, probably not so much BUT I’m pregnant with my first so we will see once he/she comes out!
