Co-sleeping?!?

I really have done everything possible to avoid putting my 3 week old in my bed. She has her bassinet next to my bed and tonight all of a sudden she refused to sleep in it. Every time I put her in she would cry the whole time I checked her diaper I checked to see if she was hungry or if she had gas and then I set her down for one second in my bed and she fell asleep instantly 😑 how can I fix this ?!?!?

We bed shared, still do.  But it isn't for everyone.  I sleep lightly, she sleeps in my arms, to protect her from dad.  She is also usually above the covers, and we do not use a thick comforter.  No alcohol or sleeping aides or drugs ever used (at least not before bed).  You have to weigh the risks against the benifits.  They do make a cosleeper, that you attach to the bed.  Look it up online, your not sleeping anyway.

There are some great guides to safe co sleeping. Dr Sears is a good place to start. See if you have any of the risk factors and make an informed choice. We co slept with our second and got so much more sleep! Sears say "the best pace for baby to sleep is where the whole family gets the most sleep". How is that for a nonprescriptive, supportive parenting tip!

If you don't want to co- sleep maybe try keeping a soft teddy or small blanket down your shirt for a day then put that in her bed. The smell of you may soothe her?

I co slept with my daughter. But no one here takes medication and alcohol and cigarettes/drugs are forbidden by our religion. I also breastfed her and my husband is a light sleeper. It's not something for everyone to do. My husband and I discovered sleeping in separate beds was better for us. He was getting woken up too much by the movements of my daughter and I. So you really have to look at your situation and decide if it's a safe and comfortable thing for your family.

My friend had twins and the father rolled on top of one of them and killed her. 😥. Co sleeping is not for everyone. I, personally, wouldn't do it. I don't want to risk it.

If you are comfortable with it, I say go for it. You can buy a co sleeper bed. It's like a mat with walls.

Have you tried patting her belly for a few minutes until she stops crying and then leaving it firmly on her belly (like just completely resting your hand on her belly)?

Let her cry. If she fell asleep that quickly in your bed just move her to her bed and let her cry it out of her system. Soothe her. Don't pick her up but talk quietly and calmly to her and pat her gently. She may just be fussy. My son was like that and I let him sleep in our bed and then I moved him back to the bassinet half way through the night at the first feed and then the 2nd feed it was too close to morning and would wake DH so we'd be in the living room and then DH would get up and me and DS would go back to our bedroom. Eventually it got tiresome and I decided I needed my husband back and my bed and my sleep and we went to the crib in his room. Then the issues began lol. So don't start something you aren't prepared for the worst possible scenario for.
