[PLEASE READ FIRST] Transphobia?

So before we get started, this post is about transphobia and people who are trans. Please do NOT let this post turn into a bashery of anyones preferred identities. Thank you.

I have a friend who i am REALLY REALLY close too. We have been close friends for a while. He and i are very alike in the way that we are very honest, open, and not at all very offended by anything. Lets call him X

I have ANOTHER friend who recently came out as mtf. She goes by she/her pronouns. Lets call her Y

X REFUSES to call Y her preferred pronouns, even going as far as to say to her face “i will call you “he” all i want”. Now i myself am part of the Lgbt+ community, and we joke about it all the time, but Y is very VERY sensitive and doesn’t stand up for herself ever. I could tell y was offended and asked my friend X if he could please stop misgendering her. X refused.

Later on i texted X and asked him about it, we got into an argument which ended up in me asking X if he was transphobic, he said “no i just say it like it is”

Do you believe that his actions, and PURPOSEFULLY misgendering Y is transphobic?
