Help me moms!

I need some advice. My one year old can go to sleep in his crib with no fussing, but will wake up and will scream at the top of his lungs. We tried to let him cry but it goes on for hours and he doesn’t get sleep. Usually, we just bring him to bed and I breastfeed him. But- I am going on a trip without him soon, so he won’t be able to breastfeed at night. Any tips? Should we just let him cry?Thank you!

- I also wanted to add that i put him to sleep at nap time at the breast, but not at bed time. Is it appropriate to let him cry it out for naps?
