is it ok to spank a 9 month old?

my son is amazing, my rainbiw baby. we spoil him because i was told you cant spoil a baby... anyways, he has been acting out at times , where he literally throws a temper tantrum. my husband is convinced he is acting out and doing it purposefully. he thinks he needs a spank on the butt to straighten him out. now days spankings arent as acceptable as they were when we were griwing up, while i believe some were effective, i believe 9 mos is too early to start this. my husband believes differently. i have told him how i feel and that he is too young to understand. i literally saud he will make him a violent person by doing so because it is what I believe. what are other neans we can differ to? i have been trying to lay him in his crib and defer to him not getting what he wanrs wgen ge "acts out" se. please help!
