How do I stop breastfeeding my almost one year old to sleep?

F

Hi ladies, I’ve never considered it a problem until now that I am planning to start weaning my eleven month old daughter off breastmilk once she’s a year old. I’ve always loved feeding her to sleep and during the day she sleeps in my arms and at night I lay her down in her crib after she’s fed to sleep and she sleeps all night long.

She has always been obsessed with breastmilk. On top of that, I think the comfort she gets from feeding to sleep is what she likes the most. But I think feeding to sleep will be the biggest obstacle in weaning her and if I can break the feeding to sleep habit before weaning her I feel like the weaning will be easier on us. She’s a very stubborn little girl and won’t sleep without milk.

Is there anything I can try to get her to sleep without breastmilk? I’ve already tried a pacifier, rocking and patting her to sleep, singing to her... she just screams til I give in and give her the boob.

(Please don’t tell me I should or can keep breastfeeding past twelve months. I’m aware I can, but I’m also wanting to start trying for another baby soon and need to be getting periods in order to do that 😬)
