Short naps....Hungry?
So here’s another question mommas (sorry it’s so long!):
My lil man is 7.5 weeks old. We’ve been struggling with taking daytime naps for several weeks now. He will take a short nap like <30 minutes after eating when he wakes up for the day between 7-9 am and then takes a long 2 hour nap in the afternoon about 2 pm. In the meantime, he gets cranky cause he’s tired - he will yawn like 50 times but not want to sleep no matter what I try. Finally gave into this schedule.
Well today I fed him after his first nap and he cried and cried and cried like he was absolutely starving and the boobs didn’t have anything for him. So I gave him some formula and he ended up taking 4 oz. He got tired soon after and has been asleep now for over an hour! It’s only 11:30 am so this isn’t his normal schedule. I try to put him down a hour to an hour and a half after eating because he eats around every three hours so I figure he can get a good nap in, but this hasn’t been working at all.
I’m wondering if I’m just not producing enough for his little belly to be full enough to take a good nap. He nurses well and quite often, but we struggle a lot during the day.
I drink Gatorade, a gallon of water, upped my protein, take Legendairy Milk supplements, take my prenatal, eat oatmeal every day, eat lactation cookies/brownies, put brewers yeast and flax seed in my oatmeal, eat a bajillion calories from snacking all day, nurse on demand, rest as much as I can. I was pumping in between feeds yesterday to get my supply up. But I feel like I only ever make just enough! I have all of 10 ounces in the freezer and I go back to work in two weeks. I don’t know what else to try. Fenugreek made him so gassy and in pain so I don’t do that. Mothers milk tea didn’t do anything. Any suggestions?
