What can I expect?

This is my first pregnancy and due to complications I’m going to have because of my blood type and the size of my baby and how little I am due to me only be 19 they are making it very clear to me I have to have a c-section, with all that being said I’m super nervous about it all. What can I expect when I go in for it? I’ve heard so much about it but I wanna hear it from someone with experience! (And please no judgement on me being such a young to be mother I’m super excited about him/her I’m just looking for advice on the c-section matter! Thank you!)

I had a scheduled C and it went great!  Because it is scheduled I got the early time of day, you can’t eat before so I was happy!  Everyone was really calm and joking around in the OR and I told my husband to just talk about random stuff to keep my mind busy.
The actual procedure is quick, for me the spinal was the worst part, it was very uncomfortable for a few minutes then everything numb.  They check you a few times to make sure you can’t feel anything and then start.  You will feel pressure when they pull the baby out but it does not hurt, just odd. Then you can feel some tugging when they stitch you up but again, no pain.  
My husband sat next to my head the whole time and they told him to get the camera ready when it was time.  Once I was sewn up I got to hold my baby as they wheeled me to the recovery room.  That was 2 hours of “quiet” time (no family) and skin to skin time.  If you want to BF or pump you can do it then. 
Recovery advice:  take your meds!  Don’t wait till you are in a lot of pain, just take them when it’s time!  Get up and walk as soon as you can, helps recover faster.  Ask you Dr for the steri strips and glue, much nicer scar and I had no aftercare to worry about. 
I had baby Monday morning and went home Wednesday afternoon.  My mom came over for 2 weeks to help out which was really nice. Everything went really smoothly for me and I hope the best for you!  Just try to be calm and you will do great!

I've had 2 c sections and both went well. I think I was more prepared for my 2nd one because I knew my entire pregnancy I'd have a repeat c section. my 1st one was not a full blown emergency, but close to it. My daughter was breech and I went in for an ultrasound and they said my fluid was low so I would be having a c section the next morning since I had already eaten that morning. My first c section I was closed with glue and dissolvable staples which I really liked. I did bruise a ton and was very numb and sore after. My second one I was just stitched/sewn up, no bruising, and not as much pain from my c section, I did have some abdominal pain because I had a tubal. With both of my c sections the hospital gave me an abdominal binder and it helped a lot after, especially when your trying to get out of bed. Sleeping on your back and propped up a little for a week or so after you have the baby is what helped me. Its very uncomfortable to lay any other way. One thing I wish I knew before having a c section is that you still bleed after, I bled for over a month with both of my c sections. Its not as bad as when you have a vaginal delivery, but it still happens. Take your pain meds, they will really help you and breastfeeding will help you heal faster and lose your weight faster. I'm currently 6 weeks pp (my third child) and I'm back to my pre-pregnancy weight. 
I also watched a lot of YouTube videos on csections and how they are done and videos of peoples experience with c sections. I only recommend that if you don't get grossed out easily.
No judgement here by the way :) I had my first child at 21, got pregnant at 20, about 3 months of dating my now husband who i have 3 children with! i hope this helps and didn't overwhelm you. Enjoy your little one! :)

usually the first c-sec experience is the smoothest, keep in mind that though you'll feel like you're recovering well very soon, it is a surgical procedure, so take it easy and try to rest, keep it clean, and if any green substance that resembles puss and extreme pain, contact your doctor immediately. Right after it you will be extremely constipated and will have a tad of difficulty peeing, but it all should get better within the first 24-48 hrs. Make sure you walk at least a decent amount of time to help with recovery, do not push it past when you start feeling pain. Go at a steady slow pace. Try not to lift anything heavy, try to get as much help with the most difficult tasks. Good luck.

my c-section was great. I did lose a lot of blood and had to have 2 transfusions BUT my OB and the Dr who assisted him were amazing and I healed so well. I was up and around within the 1st week. ask for a belly band in the hospital. make sure you have lots of help. my mom came and stayed with me for 3 weeks and my boyfriend took a week off from work.

my c-section went smooth. It was not planned but it wasn't an emergency. I think the recovery part was a little difficult due to pain. But with support and help it was easy to handle. like a lot of women have said,  keep it clean. I had my SO help me clean it and he checked it every night to make sure it was healing ok. You and your body is a lot stronger than you think. congratulations on your little one!
