What’s your form of birth control?

I’m getting an IUD inserted today and I’m really nervous and I just wanna get some advice on if it will hurt, what I should do before I go, what I shouldn’t do after, will I still get my period, does it change the way sex feels, etc.

Mine hurt like hell when the dr put it in. I hear that if you’re on your period it hurt a lot less. It was hard for me to drive home because of the pain. But it was gone by the end of the night. Never got a period and never felt it again. Had it removed 3 years later and it didn’t hurt to have it taken out.

Not to terrify you or anyone else reading this comment, but i do want to say that every person has different reactions to the IUD process. The insertion was the WORST pain I’ve ever felt in my entire life. It only lasted about 5 minutes, but I almost couldn’t handle it it was so excruciating. I bled a little bit, but I had horrible cramps for like 4-5 days afterwards. The only thing that helped me was laying down with a heating pad on both my tummy and my back and smoking hella weed until I couldn’t feel the pain anymore. 
Now that that’s all said and done, I’ve had it for almost 6 months now and I don’t notice it at all. I used to have a crime scene in my underwear during my period and now I barely even need a light tampon. My cramps used to be horrendous and now I only need a heating pad the first day of my period. 
Overall, totally worth the earth shattering pain! I love not getting my period as much and I love love love not being worried about pregnancy! 10/10 would recommend.

They’ll go through it with you about it just so you understand what it’s made to do and how it can affect your body. IUD can make you have periods longer and very light but it depends on the person as everyone is different some people can have very light periods/spotting for a few months to a year, and some people’s periods completely stop so it’s nothing too bad. This contraception is really small and I’m sure you won’t feel a thing you’ll have nothing to worry about. I’ve been through the same experience but it wasn’t the iud it was the implant and it has the same effect. But I hope it all goes well and don’t over think it☺️💕

Hey. You will experience a little discomfort on insertion. Nothing too significant. You might have some pain during your usually periods. Yes you will have your periods and the amount of blood loss may be slightly more than usual but it's nothing to worry about unless you start feeling easily fatigued. The device will be inside your uterus and it's tail will be accessible to you vaginally to check for its presence after each period. It won't change how sex feels, for sure. If anything you can enjoy it even more now that you don't have to regularly worry about birth control. Hope that helps.

as for the pain level,  I was having another surgery and was pumped with pain meds. it wasn't the best feeling tho, from what I can remember. I can't give you an honest review about the insertion. I took tylenol extra strength when i got home.for the next day or two and I was fine. I wasn't even sore. bled a tiny bit. one pad worth and I was back to normal. sex is the exact same, although my man has said he was able to feel the wire twice. nothing to be scared of, just check the wires after to make sure it's in place. oh and check on it every once in a while, especially after hard sex and having your period. oh! it also took a year for me to have a normal period. It's now regulated again, but lighter than light!
