Taking out the IUD by myself.
So this is my story and by no means am I a doctor and if you have any medical questions I suggest you contact your doctor or a medical professional!!!
So this may sound like I’m a cry baby, but idc. So I have been on the pill, the depo, then back on the pill. I had a horrible experience with the depo and personally don’t recommend it for anyone but that’s my opinion. I found out about 10 months ago that I am sensitive to estrogen, and at an increased risk for strokes and blood clots, so they put me on POP pills. I was one those for 9 months, then about a month and a half ago, I had very bad breast pain and swelling. My primary doctor said to finish my BC pack and see if it went away. It didn’t, so i went to planned parenthood to see my options. I was on Lyra pills. Planned parenthood said I exhausted every pill option and I can’t go back on a two hormone pill. So I got the IUD. It was very very painful getting it inserted, but my pain tolerance is different from others. They said it went in perfectly and I was fine. I had dizziness, sweating, and anxiety. They said i was good to leave and I honestly wish i stayed longer because once I started driving I felt lightheaded. I got home and had INTENSE cramping. I have the beginning stages of endometriosis, and I am very use to horrible cramping but this was unbearable. The heating pad didn’t help, painkillers didn’t help either. I got it around noon and by five it wasn’t letting up. I just wanted it OUT. I started puking, getting dizzy and extremely tired. Also had a fever. I called the ER they said they couldn’t take it out for me!! I called urgent care they also said no. I called planned parenthood and they couldn’t get me back in for TWO WEEKS. It was weird because I didn’t bleed, but still had the horrible cramps. I said f*ck this! I looked up videos and did tons of research on everything and at around midnight I took a bath and felt ten times worse. I puked again and decided okay now is the time to take this little thing out! I looked up videos, researched and everything I could do. I washed my hands, got some gloves, I sat in a “frog” position and felt for the strings, obviously I felt them immediately. I pulled them slowly, making sure I was pulling down. I felt it move, and then slowly pulled it out. I was honestly shocked how fast it came out. I was shocked that it caused me to puke and have horrible cramping, and make me feverish. I’m also shocked that nobody would remove it for me, even though I was puking, and had a fever. After I took it out, I felt ten times better. I had a little cramping but that went away immediately. I know I sound like a cry- baby, but I don’t care. I couldn’t handle the pain, and I know i JUST got it done, and I should’ve given it more time, but I started reading reviews, and started reading things they didn’t tell me at planned parenthood, so I wanted it out immediately. This is a post to not encourage someone to do it, but to tell my experience. Again, I’m not a doctor, I’m not a medical professional, I’m just a girl who can’t handle pain like most people!
