When to buy baby stuff

Question

I'm 11 weeks 3 days and wondering when we should start purchasing baby things like furniture etc. This is our first and it seems there is so much to get! We literally don't have one thing. I'm a teacher due Jan 1st so I'm off this summer and go back to work the end of August. It's nice to relax during this time but it gets my mind racing of everything I need. We will have our baby shower the last week of October...when would be a normal time to book a hall and begin a little bit of the shower planning? Thank you!

You can never have to many diapers wipes and burping cloths!! I stalked up on them like crazy and neutral color blankets. We bought the crib and play pin/sleeper thing when I was around 24 weeks but we bought stuff right away with my pregnancies.

I agree start working on your registry. For Target, there's an option to keep it hidden until you are finished with it. I didn't start buying anything until after our anatomy scan, close to 20 weeks. We opted to purchase the big items like crib and rocker, and put more baby gear on the registry, like car seat and stroller.

I would get lots of diapers and wipes and maybe a crib. But would wait to buy clothes until the baby shower cause I just had one of my baby showers and got a lot of the small things I needed plus lots of clothes ect. Then whatever u don't get u and the father can get.

Start building your resgistry! It'll help with the urge to start shopping, and if you're into saving money, most registries will send you a coupon later on to get a discount on things you still need to buy (Target is 15% off).
