Marriage next month?

My boyfriend and I have been dating for 6 months now and he is going to join the Army. We’ve talked about it and we have both agreed it’s something we want. Would it be a good idea to get married before he goes to boot camp? (We are both 20 BTW)

him joining the military is NOT a reason to get married. you can both want marriage EVENTUALLY but that doesn't mean you rush it.

i was married young due to the army and i grew up and realized i wasnt the person i used to be and what i married isnt what i wanted or needed in my life anymore. 6 months of dating your still in the honeymoon period. dont make impukse decisions based on military

nah. id definitely hold off for a while but it's your life and you can choose to do what you feel is right for you.

No, it’s not. It’s really not. Make sure your relationship can survive basic and his first school at the least. Deployments are no joke and moat military marriages fail either by the first deployment or during it. Speaking from experience here. It’s a horrid statistic, but it exists for a reason. If your relationship can survive the tech school and basic separations, you should be fine. But don’t jump the gun on a brand new relationship before it’s been tested.

Do what makes your heart happy. My husband and I dated 3 months before getting engaged, I was a senior in high school and he’s two years older than me. We actually chose to get married so soon because he was going into the Navy. We got married October 2016, I was 19 and he was 20. We are still together, it’s hard but worth it. He did never go into the Navy, he became a firefighter and I wouldn’t trade life with him for a minute. I should also mention that those three months of dating was how long I knew him at the time, too. People thought we were crazy. You just know when you’ve found your person. My parents did the same, my dad was going into the navy at 19 and had been dating my mom for two weeks and asked her to come with, she refused unless they got married and so they did. They’ve been married for going on 26 years. My mom was 19 and my dad was 20 when they got married and I swear they are still the lovey dovey type. All marriages will come across difficult times. Remember that because my husband and I have had some bumpy roads but we have been working through them :)
