Did you find out your baby’s gender pre-birth, or was it a surprise?

I mentally couldn’t do it. lol. I had to know. Plus the whole shopping thing, I wanted to pick things out accordingly. Especially the stuff that was going to be personalized.

We found out mostly because we were too curious and it felt kinda expected that we’d find out. Next time we’re not finding out. I want that surprise when baby’s born. I can’t explain why but I’m not even pregnant and I’m very excited for that moment of hearing “it’s a ...” and immediately getting to hold that baby in my arms.

We found out even though it's not the norm to do so where I live. I felt pregnancy and birth are fillled with more surprises this control freak can handle anyway! I also really needed enough time to decide on the name.

I had an all natural labor and birth. not finding out made the process less scary and more exciting. it also forced people to buy more necessities, and fewer  frivolous items, like excessive clothing. and now everything I have is gender neutral and reusable!

We decided to be surprised. There’s a few reasons. First, there are not enough happy surprises in life, why ruin one? It was so much fun to announce her birth since everyone was anxiously awaiting to know if it was a boy or a girl. Second, it forced us and our friends and family to buy gender neutral (useable for a second baby) and practical things before birth. And to not go overboard with clothes and things we really didn’t need. Third, we didn’t share our name choices and no one really bugged us for them so we got no negative name comments. And lastly, I saw it as an extra reward for all that pushing!

We really wanted to wait! My pregnancy turned out to be high risk, so i had to have lots of ultrasounds. We just couldn’t wait. We found out a bit over a month before he was born! Baby was prematurely born.

We hadn't really talked about it and just decided on the spot to find out. Plus I don't really like yellow.

We wanted to find out but the baby was in a weird position at the anatomy ultrasound and the technician couldn't confirm gender. He did say "might be a boy" and that turned out to be right, but I didn't trust that it was right until he was born. I ended up thinking it was fun to have a bit of a mystery, so we didn't pay for another ultrasound just to find out.

I found out out with my first, im now 35 weeks pregnant with a surprise 😊
We wanted to see what it was like both ways since were only planning on having 2.
There are definitely pros and cons to both, when we found out with my son, it was a real anti climax during the ultrasound, the tech sort of mumbled it and we had to ask her to repeat it. If you’re finding out, I would recommend getting them to write it down and opening it later with your partner, bit more special and intimate that way 😊
It definitely helped feeling more a bond knowing the sex, made it feel a lot more real!
I also love the anticipation of not knowing this time, it’s made it really exciting
