Not all coming out?

I'm exclusively pumping for my twins in the NICU. My boobs have gotten a lot larger I can feel the milk inside. They are super heavy. But it's just coming out in drops when I pump and I'm not getting it all out. It takes me 30-40 minutes each time I pump every three hours. And I get anywhere from 40-60 ml each breast depending on what time I pump. How can I make the rest come out without having to pump so long? Shouldn't it be coming out faster than just drops? I'm a first time mom. No experience with breast feeding.

Try a larger flange size and breast compressions.

Have the nurses look while you pump.

Here is some tips that worked for me:

Look at pictures of yout babies
Relax completly, close your eyes and drift away
Drink lots of water

If you use the medela pump or similar, use the let-down function often. I turned it on every five minutes, and that helped the milk going.

There is also a nosespray that activates letdown, ask for that!

I had the same issue with using an electric pump I could only get like 30 mls & it took forever my mom suggested using a manual pump & the first time I tried it was at 8 at night after a full days breast feeding & I pumped 75mls in one boob in 15 minutes! Could be worth trying or ask a nurse for advice :)

I only ever used a manual pump and it came out in drops. Can you ask a nurse for help?
