Are BH painful?

I think I’m having BH but I’m not sure 😭 my belly keeps tightening up especially higher on my belly. She’s not moving so I know it’s not just her moving around. 
I went to show my husband and my stomach relaxed and then when he touched me it got hard again so he knows I wasn’t lying. But it’s not painful so I don’t know!! The last two I had ended with a shock/small pain under my belly by my vagina.

All my BH have always been painful. My doc told me it’s a common misconception that they don’t hurt. It’s just that for the majority of women BH aren’t painful. Hang in there!

I had Braxton Hicks at 31 weeks. I’m not sure I would have described them as painful but really really uncomfortable.

Braxton hicks aren't painful. Contractions are. The difference is bh are localized: upper or lower belly. Contractions are entire belly and sometimes back (or sometimes just back labor at first). At least, that's how I was told the difference is!
