Do you see both a PCP and gynecologist?

Do you see a separate doctor for a gynecological exam, or does your primary care physician do it as part of a routine checkup?

I have both. While my PCP is more than happy to do a pelvic exam, I use by GYN for that because of my PCOS. I leave all “lady parts” care to one person because then she is well aware of my history if I encounter an issue.

My PCP was a obgyn previously and just got too old to handle the hours of catching babies. But she handled my entire pregnancy until 36 weeks then I transferred to the doctor who would deliver my baby... who I only saw once and wasn't on shift to deliver my baby at 37 weeks anyway 🤷.
She's also my daughter's pediatrician now, only baby on her list, and she consults with the head pediatrician before our appointments just so she can see her, I love our doctor lol.

I went to my pcp to voice a concern about not being able to get pregnant and weight gain, and all these other symptoms and she had no idea on what to do. She told me I was fine, didn’t take blood work, wouldn’t do an exam, absolutely nothing. So I went to a gynecologist to get a second opinion and she did blood work, an exam, educated me on a woman body and things I didn’t know, things I should have been doing and so forth. I was diagnosed with pcos and prediabetic. Both of which I feel like could have been caught three months earlier if I would have went to her first instead of the pcp. I definitely feel like the gynecologist was 100% better educated on woman’s health.
