HELP!!! BOYFRIEND SAYING HES NOT READY FOR RELATIONSHIP!!!

My boyfriend of over a year just broke up with me and said he “isn’t ready to continue with the relationship because his mind isn’t in the right place” He told me he still wanted to continue being best friends and hanging out a bunch.

to me, it sounds like he’s wanting more of a break type deal but calling it breaking up. He’s still calling me baby and saying he loves me. I really am so confused though. We were fine up until we got into a small argument earlier today and now, just a few hours later, we’re here. I thought we were happy. Any help here??
