What to say when I call the doctor

So i just moved across country with my boyfriend and we just found out we are expecting. I was on bc so it was a shock for the both of us, but we are thrilled! We don’t have a family doctor out here but I checked and there is a maternity clinic in the area.. should I call them? What should I say? Should I try to find a family doctor? 
I’m new to this whole thing!! SOS 😅

Girlll I was in a similar boat as you and it caused my first pregnancy emotional meltdown 😂
Got a surprise positive test, I called my gyno, apparently they stopped doing the ob side of things and referred me to a nearby ob. 
I was laid off last year so I buy my own insurance, which already has me feeling concerned because its a cheaper and therefore worse plan than I used to have w my work. 
Call the ob, they say they don’t accept “my type of insurance.”  Which had me feeling self-conscious about my budget insurance and that my baby would get inadequate care which led to me bawling my eyes out to my husband. 
He calmed me down and together we went to my insurance website and found a provider through their search engine. Turns out my insurance works with very reputable  offices in the area and we had a good laugh over how silly I was being. 
I called a few offices and to be honest I was quickly discouraged again. I was transferred around quite a few times, brought to voicemails, etc. just wasn’t the best experience.  I called a family planning type place in our city (kinda like a planned parenthood but run by the city I think) and after reading terrible reviews I decided against returning their phone call for an appt. 
I then remembered that my friend used to work at one of the very reputable offices that was one of the search results in my insurance network. I asked her who she recommended for doctors and I felt better about having at least something to go off of instead of just throwing a dart and picking any ole doctor.  
I called that office and briefly explained my situation (positive test, regular gyno doesn’t do ob anymore) and the very sweet lady congratulated me and asked me a few questions (last known period, insurance info) and she went about setting two appts for me. She also explained the first appt was the longest, and would be a lot of questions about family history etc, and the appt after that would be with the doctor.  Honestly once you tell them you have a positive test they know the deal from there (I had to call a few places) so I wouldn’t be so unsure of yourself, they pretty much take over from there. 
I haven’t had the appointments yet but I’m hoping my friends recommendation is a good one and I like the nurses and doctrs if not I will probably switch but I’m also not too picky.

Call whoever you want and ask if they accept your insurance. You can also check your insurance online and see who is in network.

I would call them and say you have a positive test and want to get checked out. They may be able to give you a list of doctors local. Or you can call your insurance and see who is in there network around you and then google each doctor and read reviews. You can go meet doctors and not actually have them be your doctor make sure you are more than comfortable with this doctor!
