Have you gone into labor without being dilated?

Question

38 weeks, not dilated, not effaced, and babies head is not engaged. I am feeling so defeated. I’m supposed to get my membranes stripped next Wednesday, but that won’t happen if I’m not dilated. 
Can you share your stories of going into labor even though you weren’t dilated? I need a major pick me up and some hopefulness in my life right now.

With my daughter i never dilated, was never effaced, soft or nothing but my water broke. I still never dilated 🤦🏽‍♀️🙄😂 i had to get induced which then got me to ONLY a 4cm after 24 hours, which led to a csection. I’m 37 weeks now, still no dilation, not soften, nothing. I guess my body loves making babies but hates letting them go 🤦🏽‍♀️

All 4 times. No effaced, posterior cervix they couldn't do a membrane sweep, long cervix, closed etc. twice i went into labour on my own and other two got induced. With my last i was induced and i went from closed and posterior long cervix at 9pm to holding my baby at 4am. The labour itself only lasted 1 hr

With my first, baby’s head was engaged but I didn’t dilate until I was in active labor for hours. My OB this time doesn’t do cervical checks unless you’re contracting a lot, which I haven’t, I’m 39 weeks but have no idea what’s going on with my cervix. Just really uncomfortable, lots of pressure and waiting.
