Dpo?when to count from

Can someone please explain dpo to me I know it stands for days past ovulation but when do I count from if i ovulated on the 18th do I count from the 18th or rom the 19th? Sorry it's prob so straight forward I'm just a bit confused

I got my positive on the 18th I assume I ovulated on the 19th so you count from the 20th being day 1 X
