How soon does the pill effect your period?

I started taking birth control for the first time yesterday. I thought I got my period, but was just dark old blood and not red blood. What should be my normal period at this time is a thick clotted brown discharge. I was wondering, if I took the pill, would that change my period which is coming in the next few days? Would it be lighter or shorter?

Yes it will change your period. It can make you late, not have one at all or it can just be irregular.  Birth control effects people’s bodies in different ways. Some have symptoms other people may not. You’ll just have to wait and see how your body reacts to it:)
