taking 5 month old around sister with shingles

we were on our way to my sisters how for vacation, she lives 7 hours away when she told me she went to the doc and has shingles... they are on her belly and her side, and she says they are almost all crusted over....

I called my baby ped and they said she should b fine as long as they are covered up and no contact with the baby..

but, I am still super worried to take her as she hasn't been vaccinated for chicken pox...and worry about the virus being on surfaces around her home...

anyone have any knowledge of this!???
