Is it rude ?

If I’m struggling with infertility do you think it’s rude to ask to not be told every detail of your pregnancy or have the gushy baby talk. Like don’t get me wrong I love babies and I think pregnancy is an amazing thing but that’s why I don’t want to hear all the stuff it makes me jealous and sad that I don’t have a baby and I’m not pregnant.

I get your point but at the same time it’s the most exciting thing to happen in a persons life and it is rude to try to make them feel bad that they’re pregnant just because you aren’t

I think it depends how close you are! When I was pregnant/just had my son one of my friends acted off, she would bring us food and then leave really quickly. I didn't mind, I know that a few months prior (while I was pregnant) she miscarried (she told me because I had lost my baby the month before getting pregnant) I knew that seeing my new born baby boy would be killing her! Thankfully now she is 4 or 5 months pregnant and loves my son. So I just rolled with her being distant. When I lost my baby I unfollowed every single person who announced their pregnancy on fb. I couldn't bare to look. If my best friend was struggling ttcI would hope that they could put a side their feelings and be happy for me, in return obviously I'd watch what I say and stuff.

I think it’s all about how you communicate it. Giving an overview of your situation (in as much or as little detail as you feel comfortable with) will help the person understand. Just tell them you’re really happy for them but need some time to come to terms with the fact it isn’t happening for you just yet. Any person who cares about you will understand. Maybe there are some pregnancy topics you could discuss with them that wouldn’t be difficult for you and would also make them feel like they can still talk about certain bits - like talking about how they’re going to decorate the baby’s room or if they’ve been thinking of names. Maybe you have other topics that aren’t too painful that you could bring up. Good luck, and I’m sorry you’re struggling 😔

no, just explain (in as little detail as you like) that your struggling and would like to avoid speaking on subjects that cause you distress and cause your mental health to decline, explain your happy for them and wish them well but you'd like to avoid the full topic till your in a better place mentally.

You need to do what helps you get through difficult times like this. Whether that’s just spending less time with/talking to pregnant friends, or letting them know the struggles you’re going through. I wouldn’t be rude about it though. Your feelings are understandable and people who care about you should get it.

I haven't been in these shoes, but I have close friends who have struggled with infertility and IMO it's rude and inconsiderate to go on and on about pregnancy with someone who's wishing they could have a baby. Infertility is a Very Hard road to travel and I don't want to make it harder for anyone than it already is!!!!

I try not to talk much with my struggling friend about it, but it's honestly hard to talk about anything else! Pregnancy consumes your whole life; my entire day revolves around this baby in me. It's difficult to be a good friend when the conversation always goes "what's up with you?" "well TODAY baby baby baby blah blah".

I think they should respect your feelings. No one infertile or not wants to hear their boring shit anyway.
