measuring 29 weeks?

when my doctor did measurements of my bump today she said i was measuring 29 weeks. what does that mean exactly? I'm only 27 weeks pregnant

It doesn't really mean anything. Fundal height is more of a guide than a rule. Plus it doesn't have to equal the number of weeks exactly. It can be 2-3 cm on either side without initiating any further investigation.

They measure your uterus, Publix bone to top of uterus, in centimeters. That’s ‘supposed’ to determine how many weeks you are. Number of cm = number of weeks your baby measures. However, this is HIGHLY inaccurate. ALL babies grow st the same rate during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. After that, just like children and adults, all babies grow at their own pace. Some slower and some faster than others. Not all babies are born at the same exact weight and length, so why should you compare them all the same while they’re still in the belly? Where I live in Germany, doctors do not measure fundal height at all. And after 12 weeks, a due date cannot be changed. Due dates are determined by ultrasound early in pregnancy. My stomach in the beginning was measuring 1 week larger. At my ultrasound baby was measuring 3 days smaller then my target due date. Idk if it means anything.

That’s an old school doctor thing to do. Most measure but it’s for like huge differences like months cause can indicate baby isn’t growing or lack/to much of fluid. Yours is only two weeks off so just means your belly is a tad bigger then the “norm” for 27 weeks. Don’t worry momma

Just that baby is measuring big! Nothing to worry about :) I measured 3 weeks ahead from 28w on and everything was fine.
They kept saying he would come early and be almost 10lbs etc. 
He came out one day before he was due at 8lbs 5oz.
