Vaginal and anal swabs?

Did anyone else have to do this after 36 weeks? If so who did it, a guy doctor or a girl doctor or yourself?

What difference does the sex of the Dr make? The Dr does it. It's to test for group B strep. You need to know if you have it. It's a bacteria women have on occasion. It's not harmful to you but if baby passes through the vagina while you have it, it can get menigitis. So if you have group B strep you will need antibiotics.

Do you mean the Group B Strep swab? It’s totally routine and painless. My OB is a female, so for all 6 of my pregnancies, she did it.

It literally takes 3 seconds. The swab doesn't even go inside you, just brushes against you.  Your dr will do it.  I do not know if your dr is male or female.

It’s called the group strep B and it’s completely normal. Your OB does it just like they do your Pap smear.

I had this done too earlier so I’ll need it done again, but it was an internal vaginal swab and I was able to do it myself.

The dr just takes a swab specimen it kinda just feels like a tampon going in for like 3 seconds.. they don’t go into your butt btw they just swab the part in between

My obgyn who is a women did it. Trust me that is the least of your worries when you go into labor your vagina gets seen, touched and poked at by almost everyone who walks through the door lol

it's a routine test if you refuse it then you are guaranteed to be on antibiotics during labor bc there is a chance you have it
