17 on birth control?

hi all. i’m 17 and i really want to go on birth control mainly bc of my period. it’s extremely heavy and my cramps are out of this world; i missed school today bc of them and this quite common. i literally lay in bed and cry, that’s how strong they are. i hate having such a heavy flow too. i am not currently sexually active but i will go to college in a few months, and welp, ya never know...lol. i’m seriously considering birth control but my mom is against it bc she thinks i’m too young, that it’ll make me not be able to have children in the future, that i’ll go out and have sex, etc... i need help, i don’t know what to do.

update: but wouldn’t it show up on my health care papers or something like that? i don’t think i’d be able to do it on my own, my parents are super protective. they always have to know where i am, they’re really controlling too
