National Child Abuse Registry *TW*

*TW: child abuse. Murder/suicide*

I’m not sure how many of you are familiar with the case of the Hart family, but I thought this would be an interesting topic related to the case. The Hart family’s car was recently found after going off of a cliff in Mendocino County, CA. It is believed that the driver of the car, Jennifer Hart, intentionally drove her car off of the cliff. Although three of the children are still missing it is believed that the entire family was in the car at the time. The Hart’s have a history of abuse allegations against them regarding their children spanning across several states. One of the people who reported them is calling for a national registry of abuse so agencies may more effectively get a family history across state lines.

What do you think? Should we have such a registry? What would be the benefits? Would there be any drawbacks?

Edited to add: if you live somewhere with such a registry I’d be interested in hearing how it’s implemented and how it works.
