Service year? ( 10 month mission trip)

So I've recently felt very very useless, ive developed that I need a change of scenery.

There is a program here that takes teens from age 18-25 and places them around the globe for 10 months to serve.

Life's been kinda hard recently and I just want to get away and make a difference but my parents don't exactly support it, they think it would be dangerous.

It would give me a chance to change the way people see me as a failure, I wouldn't see myself as one either.

I love to travel I just don't think my parents are fond of me going off on my own for a year somewhere in the United States.

YES, for the 1st serve you do it's strictly in the united states!! So it would be like me going off to school for a year and coming back after...
