baby blues?

My baby is 2 weeks old today & I think that I have the baby blues. The last time I got some sleep was yesterday morning, baby is cluster feeding & I feel very overwhelmed. Hubby went back to work & I feel bad like I'm failing as a mother. My mom is watching the baby now but I feel even worse when she has her because my mom is not in the best of health herself. I feel very sad. But I know that its just the baby blues & it will pass but it sucks right now 😢😢😭😧😧

You’re not failing! You’re doing a great job! There is absolutely no shame in asking for help. You need to take care of yourself too! The first few weeks are EXHAUSTING and damn well overwhelming. Talk to your partner, ask for help, accept offered help. Talking through how I was feeling made a huge difference and brought forth a ton of support from loved ones.

I felt the same way. you are doing great! the fact that you are keeping a tiny human alive is a HUGE achievement! if you keep feeling this way, go see your doctor. DO NOT wait! they can prescribe you something or refer you to a therapist. you don't have to go it alone! keep your chin up!

I felt the same way...so overwhelmed, sleep deprived to the max, anxious/scared about everything, etc! Seriously every time the sun would go down I would have a crying fit for no particular reason I couldn’t stop, and cry a few times randomly during the day...this lasted for right at a month! Be patient and forgiving with yourself, you have been through so much emotionally and physically with a huge, life changing event! If after a month things don’t take a turn make a point to talk to your doctor, until then cut yourself some slack and let yourself cry...those hormones are killer! 😊😘

Aww I’m sorry mama! That was the scariest/tiring/frustrating time of my entire life. The 2nd day my husband had gone back to work, I literally cried the entire day. I ended up making my mom come over to help me and just hold my son so I could just shower. I promise you it will get better!! I had the exact same feelings as you (my son is 11 mo now) and I thought I would never get used to being a mom. I felt like such a failure and sad. But every mom goes through this. It’s so, SO hard for the first month or 2, but you will get used to your new role as a mom! You are doing great! That’s what these forums are for. I came here all the time asking for advice and just venting and it always made me feel better. Also, don’t ever feel bad for asking for help! That’s something I wish I did more of when my son was a newborn. Feel better soon!

The baby blues should not last longer than two weeks after you have your baby. If you are beginning to feel depressed now, it is most likely PPD. PPD may not go away on its own as easily as you think. You may need help from your doctor and or therapist.

I have PPD and I’ve learned that there is no shame in asking for help. I need it. Like last night I was so exhausted that I called up my MIL last minute to see if she’d watch her. She did. And I felt much better tonight because I’m rested and baby is sleeping already. It’s not easy and I definitely have my days. My daughter is 7 Weeks Old now. I hate that I have PPD but I knew I’d get it with my background of depression
