Have you moved out of state?

Question

Have you ever willingly moved out of state away from family? If so, 
From where to where?
Why?
What drew you to that state specifically?
Was it hard being away?
If you have kids, was/is it hard on them?
Did you line up a job & home first? How?

Didn't know where exactly to post this so sry if you feel it's in the wrong place.
Also, I'm asking because my husband & I have been thinking about moving out of state.

Yep. From California to Alaska for school. Then Alaska to the East Coast due to my husband's work. I love being away, and seeing new places. Family stresses me out most of the time ;) so it's nice to only fly back once in a while.

Yes, from NY to Wisconsin for college, then from Wisconsin to CA after I got married.

Me, hubby,  and 2 little ones moved from MI to KY so he could find employment,  I transferred my job to be on safe side till he found work,  we found apartment online before we moved. I had left my 2 teens back in michigan 😢 (1 was in college other lives with his dad). It was best thing we could of done, the opportunities are way better in KY than back in michigan

Moved to Tennessee a handful of times, jobs were far and in between HATED being away from my family! It's a must to at least send out resumes, applications first. Its hard to get kids insurance in order as well. Best to look into that first.. Never got easier so we moved back home

I moved from PA to FL when I graduated from college. I went there to live with my then boyfriend who was already living down there. Found a job after I got down there because I had money to live off of for a few months.  I moved back home about two years later due to certain circumstances with him changing jobs.  I wouldn't want to move away from family now since they are our main support for babysitting and things like that.

Yea I had everything lined up before I moved we didn't have kids so it wasn't a big deal.

I've moved from SC to VA and then to IL. My husband is navy and we were dating when I moved to VA. Never had work lined up. Just job hunted before moving and after til I found something. Finding a place to live was lined up before hand. I contacted an apartment complex and emailed and phoned one person back and forth with everything we needed to reserve the apartment before moving. Luckily it's only the two of us and our cat (who is amazing on car rides) so moving wasn't difficult. However being further than a 6 hour drive from family has been challenging. I get a bit homesick from time to time still. Now that college football season is around the corner my homesickness will start back up because my dad, mom, sister, and I like getting together and watching. Not sitting around enjoying their company is tough sometimes.

I moved from NorthernCalifornia to El Paso, Tx. I was 7.5 months pregnant so we drove the entire way. My husband is in the army, so work moved us, not by choice 😜 but it's not bad.

From Rhode Island to Arizona for college. It was really hard on me being away from family, I ended up moving back. My brother is out there still though and he absolutely loves it!
