Dr doesn't measure Hcg level?

Question

Anyone else's dr also not take Hcg level? The nurse practitioner told me during my orientation appointment they don't do it because some peoples levels don't double regularly and it causes alarm and there's nothing they can do about it. Not sure how I feel about it...

Most Drs only monitor HCG levels if they need too! With my first pregnancy, they didn't. I ended up with pre-eclampsia that did not resolve after delivery and was on Bp meds for 3 months. I got pregnant again when LO was 5 months so I was considered high risk bc of all the Bp problems! That's when they monitored my hcg levels. I ended up losing that baby at 10 weeks. I am 7 wks and 1 d right now and of course they have monitored them again this time. Trust me, with my first it was amazing. No worries because I had no reason too! Of course a mc was always in the back of my head but not like now because of my history. Be thankful you are not having to be monitored, it doesn't always make you feel better! It actually stresses me out waiting on all the test results!

It is so much better not measuring your HCG levels. I got mine checked and was at 1200 at 4 weeks 5 days the nurse called me and said to prepare myself that is wasn't "good" I went to the doctors and they saw the gestational sack and he said everything was fine that my numbers had doubled in 48-72 hours like they are supposed to. They can't tell anything based on your levels alone! :)
