when to start stocking up on diapers?

I haven't had my baby shower yet, so I'm not sure what I'll be getting which is probably why I've been holding off. I'm 25 weeks but have seen so many people stocking up before then. Also, how do you find sales and coupons? How many diapers of each size should I be getting??

I'm a mom of 4 and I am against stocking up. All of my kids have needed different brands of products and went through growth spurts at different rates. Yes you can return them, but really, you want to go stand in line with a baby carrying in bulky boxes of diapers, save receipts and fuss with over return policy time frame etc?  I just buy as I go . ...amazon prime or costco free delivery.

I was going to get a box of newborn and maybe a box or 2 of size 1 then Amazon auto subscribe from there! why stock up when you don't know what/how many you'll need and you have to store them all. 
life is too easy now! if you don't want to go out to get more Amazon, Walmart... will deliver them to your door usually by the next day!

I stocked up with loads of diapers from the baby shower.  turned out our daughter got chemical burns from huggies. was allergic to luvs. honest company turned out to be crappy company.  leaks, rashes, blowouts. so in the end, the only brand our daughter was able to wear , without burns, rashes, blowouts, leaks, etc, was pampers. 
moral of the story? buy one small box of several brands and see what YOUR baby will tolerate.  it's a hassle to return diapers when u just had a newborn,  you are exhausted and leaving the house with a car full of returns, is last thing on your mind.

I didn’t stockpile diapers with my first and I haven’t with this one either. I received a lot of diapers at my showers with my first. I didn’t open any until they were needed. I used large boxes first and returned small packages, got the money back, then bought bigger boxes - that saved me some money. I didn’t have to buy any diapers for the first 4 or 5 months. When I ran out of gifted diapers, I started buying the members mark brand diapers at sams club as needed. they’re much cheaper than name brand and in the long run we saved money by not stockpiling. It’s hard to know what sizes to stockpile anyway. My daughter turns 2 tomorrow and is still in size three diapers, which she’s been in for almost 18 months. With this pregnancy, I’ve received a pack of newborns as a gift. We’re not having a shower, but I’m sire people will bring diapers and gifts when baby arrives. 2 church groups have given me cash or gift cards totaling almost $400 which we can use for diapers or a stroller, whatever. We’ve just made it work. Good luck!

We started stocking up after our first appt. I’ve been buying pampers, no real reason why. I used luvs and pampers with my first. We buy a large box and a large package of wipes every paycheck. My mom has also been buying a package of diapers and wipes whenever she can. She has bought me luvs and pampers. I’m not depending on getting stocked up at my shower, I’ve been a guest at too many showers where people just buy whatever they want and completely neglect the registry and actual baby needs. My cousin’s shower was yesterday, she’s due a week before me. There was easily 35-40 people there and she literally got maybe 6 packages of diapers and maybe 3 packages of wipes, lots of multiples of things bc people don’t actually shop off the registry so no one knows what’s purchased or just blatantly bought whatever they wanted, she got TONS of clothes, which is great, but diapers and wipes are a necessity and aren’t cheap. Onesies are cheap. I’ll be 29 weeks Wednesday and we don’t have nearly the stockpile I would like, just praying that since people know I lost my job that they actually buy the stuff we need and registered for versus all the “cute” stuff.

Do a diaper raffle at your baby shower and go from there :) my cousin did that and her baby is almost 5 months old and she hadn’t needed to buy any diapers yet

My youngest son and my daughter were born too big for newborn size. My daughter is 15 weeks and in a size 2 now. A friend of mines son could t wear the pampers they stocked up on bc he poops or pees through them. So she had to sell them at a loss on fb. I don’t recommend sticking up too much. We had one big box of size 1 and a box of the all dye free smell free wipes.
