Is anyone else's 18 month old insisting that they dress themselves?

My daughter has started insisting on putting on her pants/shorts and shoes on by herself and keeps trying to put her shirt and jacket on (let's me help with these). She has yet to do it 100% correctly. She can either put both legs in, but has not been able to figure out how to stand up and pull them up, or she gets one leg in while standing and pulls it up to her waist, but can't figure out how to get her other leg in while it is pulled up. She refuses to let me help and it sometimes ends in a tantrum.

The shoes she always put them on with her feet between the tongue of the shoe and the velcro.

I didn't think they started this until later? but I am a FTM and don't have a clue.
