I believe there's no doubt social networkings impact on society has grown drastically over the past decade or so... But just how great is it? Compared to basic education, our family, TV in general, media through other sources, etc... Impacting things like every day decisions (marketing), to political views...

Social media is a double edged sword. It has such a far reaching and immediate effect that for as much good it can do for society (connecting like-minded people, spreading awareness, giving exposure to voices and perspectives that go otherwise unheard) it does just as much damage (widespread misinformation, easily accessible propaganda, flashbang distractions, false sense of security/anonymity increases cruelty).
