Baby's first vaccines - so scared!

My partner and I had opted not to vaccinate our son at his first appointments and he's now 6 months old. We've come to the decision to begin vaccinating and he has an appointment on the 10th. I do not want this post to turn into a debate. I'm SO nervous about it. Will he be ill afterwards? I've heard so many stories about brain damage and SIDS from vaccines, I'm honestly terrified. Again, I don't want a debate. However, opinions and reassurance are desperately needed.
