My birth story!

Caroline • F•P•E |-/

Well guys... May the 4th be with you :”)

I’m gonna start out with yesterday. I woke up cramping, but it was light and honestly I felt fine, just exhausted. As the day went on the cramps kind of subsided, which I kind of got discouraged because I was so ready to have him here! (I would’ve been 39 weeks tomorrow)

Anyways, last night I started cramping up and I started to feel sick, which I thought was a stomach virus because my fiancé had just gotten over one. Went to bed and at 3am this morning I was bent over our toilet puking up all the food from yesterday that didn’t settle. Every 30 minutes to an hour I was awake puking up stomach bile and by about 9:30 this morning those cramps intensified. I told my fiancé there was no way I was getting checked at the clinic. We got to the hospital close to 11:30 and contractions were crazy. I was burning up and I started getting realllllyyyy cranky. After they checked me I went from dilated to 1 to a 2 very quickly. I got my own room, they got me set up and checked me again and I was at a 3.

Once the fluids were going he started kicking like crazy and then I felt a big gush of fluid, looked at my fiancé and said “my water broke, get someone!”

I was in misery for about an hour or so and they came in to start the epidural. At that point I was sitting up and bent over for the meds to kick in and they couldn’t get his heart rate anymore. Once everything was in, they laid me on my back to continue to try and pick up his heart. I couldn’t feel my stomach down through my legs and I was freaking the frick out you guys. I honestly thought I was floating.

Anyways, my doctor came in, stuck something up in me to try and get his heart rate and when she couldn’t she looked at me and said “you verbally consent to let me perform a c section?” I said yes and within minutes I was wheeled out and in the OR. (Poor fiancé was out in the waiting room talking to my mom and had no idea what was going on until they wheeled me past.) “Emergency c section, you can’t go. I love you.” Was the last thing I said and when I got in there they had me asleep within two minutes. They got my baby out within 10 minutes with the cord wrapped around his neck twice. He came out crying and everything else and they said that it was perfect. When I came to my first words were “is he okay?” To which they said “he’s perfect and healthy. Ain’t a thing wrong with him” and I swear I was on cloud nine.

They wheeled me back up to my room and I look over and fiancé had him on his chest and in that moment I was so full of energy, happiness, and I just overall feel so blessed.

I’m feeling great now that everything’s over and honestly everything that had happened to me today, the pain and everything, it’s all completely worth it once I held him and saw his beautiful face.

Without further ado... meet Jimmy. My whole world and heart ❤️
