Do I start using them right when my period ends, or 2-3 days after, or does it matter?

I would start right after your period ends. Especially if you don’t know when you ovulate

first round I started day after period ended which was good because I got my positive opk two days after it ended

Average ovulation is CD14-18. I only have 3 day periods so I started about 9 days after on CD12 and ovulated on CD16. I wouldn’t start earlier than CD7 unless you have the cheapies.

Definitely start around day 8-10 for the first round. It’ll typically be around your 14th day or so, but it’s nice to be able to see the difference between each day bc when you have that surge you’ll totally know. And I’d recommend doing it at the same time each day! Good luck!
